Lodi

Lodi Italy

Besides the fascination of the ancient quarters with their red bricks and grey cobblestones, sculptures, museums and libraries, " lower Lodi" welcomes visitors looking for a journey into the medieval atmosphere of a province with an illustrious spirit.

There are castles, porticos and squares in the town centres, solitary abbeys, traditional farmhouses and courtyards throughout the hardworking countryside. It is rich in odours and flavours of a land with a history linked to agriculture and commerce.

The squares are the protagonists of the life of Lodi and its province. Life in the towns is animated by the thousands of markets and shows and the medieval imprint on the town planning finds its original collective function.

Just outside the town, the poplars, plane-trees and willow trees become the main characters in nature's theatre, lining the banks of the many canals that mark the landscape and adorn the expanse of fields where the ancient farmhouses dot a landscape that speaks of work and love for the land. In the area around Lodi, the tourist will find many green oases equipped for excursions, bird watching, cycling and the love of good food.

A land dedicated so completely to agriculture cannot fail to amaze us with its cooking! Its coupling of sweet and sour and its great DOC cheeses, among them the famous Grana Padano, are the flavours that beckon to many tourists during the many gastronomic manifestations in the Lodigiano area. They are deeply linked to the land and its typical products, accompanied by artisan skills such as ceramics with its centuries of history.
